Asayii Fire to be contained soon

Crews continue to gain ground on Asayii Fire

GALLUP, N.M. (KRQE) – The Asayii Lake Fire, which sparked Friday, June 13, when a man was burning weeds is expected to be fully contained soon.

As of Sunday morning, officials said the fire was 98 percent contained after burning about 14,700 acres.

Once the fire is fully contained, officials say they will work to extinguish all flames, including hot spots and floating embers.

Two crews, six engines and 1 water tender continue to battle the blaze.
