ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Most college athletes enjoy a little bit of time away from their sports during the summer, not the case for former Eldorado Eagle and sophomore FGCU forward Isaiah Madrid.

Madrid is spending his time playing soccer for Albuquerque Sol FC. For Madrid, it’s a chance to play with friends he’s never had a chance to be on the same team with before and do it in front of family in a town that rallies around soccer.

Madrid was named the Atlantic Sun Conference freshman of the year last season for Florida Gulf Coast University.
