Bloomfield police name new chief

BLOOMFIELD, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Bloomfield has chosen a controversial new police chief.

The Daily Times reports the city chose 38-year-old Randy Foster to head its police department.

Last year he was fired from the Los Alamos County Police Department after a former corporal filed a lawsuit claiming foster and another officer had him committed to a mental institution against his will.

The county later settled and foster filed his own lawsuit January.

Bloomfield’s city manager says foster was the strongest candidate.
