BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – An arrest has been made in a hit and run accident that killed a bicyclist earlier this month.

Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office said 21-year-old Shilo Sap was arrested after he admitted to deputies he hit 56-year-old Michael Wolff.

Sap was found after investigators pieced together a turn light that was left at the scene of the crash.

Officials said investigators were able to determine that the light was from a 1978-1980 Crown Victoria.

After hours of searching, deputies found a Ford Crown Victoria Friday and initiated a traffic stop.

Sap was the driver of the vehicle and told investigators he had been looking down at the radio when the crash happened.

He also told officials that he wanted to call for help but was afraid his call would be traced.

Sap was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with great bodily harm/fatality and careless driving.

He was booked into MDC on a $15,250 bond. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
