Home building permits increase in ABQ metro

The number of home building permits in the ABQ metro area is increasing.

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Home building in the Albuquerque metro area is picking up.

Albuquerque Business First says home permits hit a 12 month high last month. Jumping almost 24 percent from 156 permits issued in April to 193 in May.

D.R. Horton had the most with 95, that’s about half, followed by Pulte with 23 permits.

The low point comes from December 2013 when only 79 new permits were issued.

Those numbers cover the metro, the City of Rio Rancho and the Village of Los Lunas.
