It’s going to be a hot and dry day in New Mexico today. Mostly sunny skies with highs near 96° in the metro area. We’ll be tracking a few more locations with highs in the 100s today, mainly in the south and southeast. Winds will also start to pick up today. They will be breezy out of the west and southwest around 10-20 mph. These winds along with high heat and dry air will place much of the area under a high fire threat. Fire weather watches have already been put in place for Friday. Some locations in Southern Colorado have Red Flag Warnings in place as well. Temperatures will remain hot over the next few days extending through the weekend.
