Woman in fatal DWI hit and run sentenced

Amanda Casaus was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for her role in a fatal DWI hit and run.

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The woman who caused a deadly crash has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison.

In March 2013, Amanda Casaus pulled into 51-year-old Peter Lafond’s lane near Unser and Molten Rock in northwest Albuquerque, hitting and killing him.

She took off but was quickly caught.

She failed field sobriety tests and blew nearly three times the legal limit.

Earlier this year Casaus plead no contest to vehicular homicide charges.
