Mark’s Wednesday Evening Weather Report

Our heatwave begins across the state coming up on Thursday. Temps will be in the mid 90s here in the Albuquerque metro area and will approach 100° across the south. There could be a brief snap in the heat on Friday as a storm system passes to our north dragging in slightly, and I mean slightly cooler air pushing temps down into the low 90s. But it won’t be long-lived. The high 90s will roll back into the state for the weekend.

Here in the Albuquerque area we may even hit the century mark by Sunday. 100° readings will be common across southern New Mexico into the middle of next week. Our only chance a shower for the next few days is a quick sprinkle across the northern mountains on Friday as a storm passes to our north.

The heat wave may be broken by the monsoon flow pattern beginning to set up close to the Fourth of July as gathering moisture to our south will try to push into the state.
