ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)  –  Generating a lot of traffic on is the story of an undercover APD cop who participated in a protest against the department this weekend. The officer with the criminal intelligence division, blended right in with the crowd. APD says the undercover officers were at the protest to protect the community and people’s right to free speech.

Albuquerque police are searching for a white pickup truck involved in a deadly hit-and-run overnight. Witnesses say about 10 p.m. Sunday night, the truck hit a woman walking in the median near Carlisle and Indian School and never stopped. The woman was thrown 20 feet then hit by another vehicle. Those who know anything about the incident are asked to call 242-COPS. The victim’s name is being withheld until her family is notified.

The U.S. Border Patrol has cancelled flights to bring nearly 300 Central American migrants from South Texas to California for processing, but they’re not saying why. Two of the flights that were supposed to happen Monday were cancelled. Tens of thousands of immigrants have been staying in Arizona, Texas and California. They come from Central and South America. The influx has renewed the Obama administration’s push for immigration reform, with predictions that as many as 90,000 immigrant children will cross into the US illegally by the end of the year.

Firefighters are making progress battling the Asayii Lake Fire that’s burned more than 22 square miles on the Navajo Nation. Now 60 percent contained, officials say the fire burning for more than a week was human caused. All areas to the north of the fire reopened Sunday, but roads south of Highway 134 remain closed for safety.

It’s a big day in Iraq, where U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is scheduled to meet with Sunni, Shiite and Kurdish leaders to possibly talk about a way for all of them to split the power and stop the violence. Almost 300 U.S. military members are there to train the Iraqis and protect the embassy.
