City celebrates Anasazi’s grand opening

Anasazi Building

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The city of Albuquerque is finally celebrating the opening of the downtown Anasazi building.

The nine-story building at Sixth Street and Central Avenue was years in the making.

Construction first started back in 2007, but stalled when the original developer was caught stealing money from the project.

The Anasazi sat unfinished until an Arizona-based company bought it and turned it into trendy condos.

There are 45 condos in the building for sale, as well as the commercial space on the first floor.

A grand opening will be held Monday night. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
