ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – World Cup fever took over Albuquerque on Sunday and local businesses loved it.

On Sunday, the United States men’s soccer team took the field against Portugal and fans flocked to local bars across the city.

The teams ended up tying with a 2-2 score.

Nine-year-old Lindsey Martinez won a McDonald’s contest that let her escort one of Team USA’s players onto the soccer pitch.

She’s one of 26 kids across the country to get that privilege.

A video was taken at her surprise party last month where she learned she won.

Martinez took her mom, Jackie, to watch the game. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
