Man claims he planned to give stolen car back

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The man allegedly behind the wheel of a stolen car that crashed into a bus told police he was going to give the car back.

It was a bizarre crash that landed Jose Zamora in front of judge Sunday.

According to a criminal complaint, he was the driver of a stolen car that APD tried to pull over Friday.

Instead of stopping, police say Aamora took off running and left the car in drive and that’s when it crashed into the bus.

On Sunday, a judge increased his bond.

According to a criminal complaint, Zamora first told police someone else gave him the stolen car, but then admitted he stole it and said he was going to return it.

Police say Joseph Lujan and Joshua Montoya were also in the stolen car and arrested.

The men also face a child abuse charge because a young girl was inside the car, too. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
