Homicide may have stemmed from flood contract dispute

SIERRA COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – It appears county business may be behind a homicide in southern New Mexico.

The sheriff says a former county contractor was questioned for the death of a man Saturday.

The Sierra County sheriff says a man was shot and killed around noon in Las Palomas just south of Truth or Consequences.

The victim’s name has not been released.

The sheriff says there have been heated discussions over contracts that involved the flood commission which was recently disbanded.

There’s no word if anyone has been arrested at this time.
