Police search for suspect in string of hotel robberies

SANTA FE (KRQE) – Santa Fe police officers are looking for a suspect who has been robbing hotels.

The man has hit three hotels on Cerillos Road in the past week.

The latest was Wednesday night at a Comfort Suites.

Witnesses said the robber was agitated and brandishing a 10-inch knife. He demanded money from the clerk while customers were in the lobby.

Police say the same robber hit the Best Western and the Super 8 Motels on Cerrillos earlier this week.

In those incidents, police say he was armed with screwdriver or ice pick.

Now police are worried that visitors to Santa Fe could be unsafe.

“Tourism is Santa Fe and we want our tourists to come here, be welcome and not have to worry about this…in one of the videos, you see there are lots of people around,” Celina Espinoza, with the Santa Fe Police Department said.

Because the robber always wears a hoodie, his description is limited to medium height, thin build, brown hair and brown eyes.
