Lightning ignites La Jara Canyon Fire

TAOS, N.M. (KRQE) – Firefighters are working to extinguish a wildfire in the Carson National Forest.

According to officials, the La Jara Canyon Fire was reported Friday afternoon and was sparked by lightning.

The fire is currently 5 to 8 acres in size and has a moderate spread potential officials say.

The fire is currently burning in the El Rito Ranger District just five mile north of Canon Plaza.
