Lemonade sales donated to fight pediatric cancer

Alex's Lemonade Stand

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Cancer patients are getting some help in New Mexico, one cup of lemonade at a time.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand was set up Friday at the Toys R Us at Winrock.

It’s named after a little girl who died from cancer and has become a nationwide fundraiser.

During the fundraiser, customers who participated were asked to take a picture and use the hashtag, Stir for A Cure.

The hope is that the message will also be spread through social media.

Worldwide, 263,000 new children are affected by cancer each year.

The money raised will provide research grants to doctors and nurses and support families affected by pediatric cancer.
