Crews quickly put out overnight apartment fire

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque firefighters quickly extinguished a fire in the 300 block of Alvarado northeast, east of San Mateo near Central.

Crews found heavy smoke and flames inside an apartment, where a man was sleeping and his dog was inside.

The man was pulled out of the apartment and was taken to the hospital to be treated for possible smoke inhalation.

Officials said the dog will be okay.

Crews managed to contain the fire to the apartment.

Two other units were damaged by smoke.
