Trail near East Fork Fire reopens

SANTA FE (KRQE) – The East Fork Fire, which burned 2.4 acres near Jemez Springs, was controlled Wednesday around 10 a.m.

Forest Service Trail #137 has reopened and all personnel have left the scene.

Officials say stage 1 fire restrictions remain on all National Forest System lands within Santa Fe National Forest.

Those restrictions include:

  • Campfires, charcoal grills, and stove fires are prohibited except in established fire pits, in developed campsites and picnic areas.
  • Smoking is only allowed in enclosed vehicles or buildings, developed recreation sites, or in areas at least 3 feet in diameter that are clear of flammable material.
  • ·Possessing, discharging, or using any kind of firework or other pyrotechnic device is prohibited.
