ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – APD detectives got a big assist solving a home invasion case with the help of one of the suspect’s sisters.

According to a criminal complaint, Victoria Gallegos drove Rene Lira and Oscar Orejel to a home in a gated community near Unser and Bridge.

APD says Orejel and Lira broke into that home, held up a couple and their son at gunpoint before tying up the family. According to a criminal complaint, the thieves ran off with thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, ten pairs of shoes, cash, pot and the family’s Chrysler 300.

APD says Gallegos told her sister about the armed robbery and who was involved and Gallegos’ sister then told one of the victims.

According to one of the suspects, Gallegos planned the robbery to steal marijuana she knew was inside and provided guns, gloves and masks.

Gallegos’ bond is set at $50,000 cash or surety.

The victims helped identify Orejel and Lira from a photo lineup. Apparently the two alleged robbers’ masks kept falling off during the robbery. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
