City participates in city-wide disaster drill

ABQ disaster drill

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Just how well is your city or local hospital prepared to deal in the event of a disaster? That was the question behind Wednesday’s disaster drill.

More than 25 hospitals and local emergency response agencies took part.

Scenario exercises involved several incidents in and around the Duke City.

The drill included simulated mass casualty accidents and hazardous material incidents which gave emergency crews the opportunity to work together, communicate and collaborate in order to respond to real calls.

On-hand at Wednesday’s drill, were assessors who will then monitor and grade each agency based on their response decisions and overall coordination.

The report is then used to improve response in the future.
