COPS wraps up in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The reality show “COPS” just wrapped up shooting in Albuquerque.

The show’s been following Bernalillo County Sheriff’s deputies since April and finished shooting around the county on Friday.

Many city officials didn’t want the show here including Mayor R.J. Berry. They say it makes the city look bad.

Former Mayor Martin Chavez ended his relationship with the show back in 2004.

Sheriff Dan Houston said he wanted the show here because it showcases the high quality of deputies they have.

Since Houston didn’t win the primary election, it’ll be up to the next sheriff to decide if the show will be invited back. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
