Suspect in murder case arrested for different crime

MORIARTY, N.M. (KRQE) – The suspect in the murder of a Moriarty woman was arrested and released for a different reason.

According to a criminal complaint, in May 50-year-old Mark Chavez stole a shuttle from a hotel he used to work at near Eubank and Lomas.

He was arrested this week but bonded out.

Chavez was initially charged with killing Tammie Cessna.

Her body was found in her van back in January.

Investigators found a blood inside a Moriarty motel room where Chavez once worked.

Those charges were eventually dropped.

Investigators say they’re waiting on lab results before charging him again.
