Santa Fe police chief starts new job Monday

SANTA FE (KRQE) – Santa Fe is set to officially get a new police chief Monday.

The city has chosen Eric Garcia to lead the department.

He’s been in law enforcement for 24 years, including 18 years with the New Mexico State Police. He was also director of public safety in Española.

Garcia replaces former Chief Ray Rael who retired in March.

Forty-eight candidates from all around the country applied for the job.
