Man arrested for priest’s murder

PHOENIX, ARIZ. (KRQE) – A homeless convict has been arrested in the killing of a catholic priest and beating of another in Phoenix.

Police used DNA evidence at the scene of the murder and arrested 54-year-old Gary Michael Moran.

He’s accused of breaking into the mother of Mercy Mission in downtown Phoenix last Wednesday night, shooting and killing Father Kenneth walker and beating Father Joseph Terra.

Terra is expected recover.

Police say Moran is a violent, career criminal and had just been released from prison in April after serving eight years for aggravated assault and other charges. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
