Isotopes blow late chance, game

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – One second it looked like the Albuquerque Isotopes had a Father’s Day win in the bag. The next, they were walking off the field with an extra inning loss.

The Isotopes had bases loaded, nobody out in the ninth inning but Johnny Monell grounded into a double play and Mike Baxter struck out to end the inning.

In the top of the tenth, the New Orleans Zephyrs plated three runs, enough for a 6-3 win.

It’s the Isotopes’ second loss in a row and the sixth in their last seven games.

Albuquerque will look to salvage a series split on Monday in a 12:05 p.m. game. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
