TAOS, N.M. (KRQE) – Officials say lightning sparked a fire near Taos on Sunday afternoon on the El Rito Ranger District in the Carson National Forest.

Three acres are currently burning five miles west of the village of Servilleta.

Crews are working on a hand line around the fire, which has been named the Petaca Fire, and hope to have it contained Monday.

Firefighters from Carson and Santa Fe National Forests, and 20 Red River chasers, are battling the flames.
