Vigil honors Boyd three months after shooting

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Monday marks three months since the fatal shooting of James Boyd.

A memorial took place Sunday for the homeless man shot and killed by APD.

“With the sacrifice of his life, we will make countless people’s lives better by the work we do in his name,” said Boyd’s brother Andrew Jones.

The vigil was held at the place in the foothills where Boyd was killed.

His family shared stories of his childhood. Others talked about the need for change within the police department.

Boyd was shot by police March 16 after cops say he charged at a canine with a knife.
