Kids test positive for meth

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – An Albuquerque father spent his Father’s Day in jail and so did his wife after police say their toddler tested positive for drugs.

On Thursday, APD officers were called to a northeast Albuquerque home on a welfare check and found a filthy home.

According to a criminal complaint, there were also drugs left out in a back bedroom.

Police say James Benson and his wife, Denise Clark, insisted there was no way their three kids could gain access to the illegal narcotics.

But when hospital officials tested the kids, the 22-month-old tested positive for meth.

The complaint states the parents typically let a known drug-user and dealer into their home. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
