The work week will pick up where the weekend left off with more hot, breezy and dry conditions across the state. Afternoon highs will reach the low 100s across the south once again, while Albuquerque will hover around 90°. This set up will lead to fire concerns as winds become breezy to occasionally windy during the afternoon.
A few storms will be possible Tuesday as some moisture gets drawn in the state from the south. While a few storms could produce some rainfall, many of the storms will have rain evaporating before it reaches the ground. Gusty winds and dry lightning with these storms will heighten fire concerns even more.
What little moisture makes it into the state Tuesday will quickly diminish for Wednesday, leaving the rest of the workweek mainly hot and dry. Things get more interesting, but also more uncertain next weekend. One model wants to draw up significant moisture into the state from a tropical system off the Mexican coast. Should this happen, widespread rainfall would likely develop over the state. However, other models do not show this scenario, keeping us hot and dry through the weekend.
