Families take to zoo, Old Town for Father’s Day

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It’s Father’s Day and many residents took advantage of the good weather and celebrated outdoors.

It was a packed house at the ABQ BioPark Zoo. From noon to 5 p.m., the zoo featured music for families like mariachis.

Some dads said it wasn’t about themselves, but about spending time with loved ones.

“It’s just nice to spend time with my son, and also to spend time with my dad, too,” said Davis Benavidez.

Gabriel Maldonado said she enjoyed relaxing with the family and enjoying all animals and music.

Lots of people took their lawn chairs to relax. There were also several booths from local businesses and prize giveaways for dads.

Others chose to celebrate Father’s Day at Albuquerque’s Old Town where many were also prepared with lawn chairs.

Families celebrated dads from noon to 3 p.m. there this afternoon with a live concert, a classic car show and dancing performances.

That event was free.
