US Forest Service waives recreation fees

Gila National Forest

SANTA FE (KRQE) – Saturday June 14th is Get Outdoors Day. And in an effort to encourage more people to get outdoors, the U.S. Forest Service is waiving entrance fees to national forests.

Most day use areas and campsites in the Santa Fe National Forest can be used for free Saturday. The only exception is for any reservations made through National Recreation Reservation Services.

Due to high fire danger in the Santa Fe National Forest, the Forest Service wants to remind guests to be cautious.

Check fire restrictions and weather before you go; use caution when entering fire damaged areas and let others know where you are going.
