SFPD makes 3 drug busts in 2 days

SANTA FE (KRQE) – Police in Santa Fe have confiscated five pounds of marijuana, more than a pound of heroin and arrested eight people in three recent drug busts.

SFPD officials say on Wednesday and Thursday officers executed search warrants and investigations resulting in the busts.

On Wednesday officers witnessed 21-year-old Antonio Romero sell heroin to an unidentified person. Romero was taken into custody and charged with two counts of trafficking heroin and one count of paraphernalia possession. Police say Romero had more than 11 grams of heroin in his possession.

Two others, 21-year-old Virginia Miranda and a 17-year-old male were also arrested Wednesday in connection to the heroin trafficking case.

SFPD said Miranda also had a warrant and the 17-year-old was found with $3,000, three marijuana pipes, two digital scales, two guns and additional paraphernalia on him.

That same day, SFPD, Drug Task Force and the FBI made three more arrests.

Antonio Lazalde-Molina, 34, Daniel Enriquez-Garcia, 23, and Efren Bencomo, 26, were arrested on federal drug trafficking charges.

Police say detectives found more than 21 ounces of heroin, five ounces of marijuana, $5,000 and a handgun during the arrest.

Thursday SFPD responded to a residential alarm which resulted in the arrest of 27-year-old Joshua Shultz and Adam Hirshey, 23.

The two were allegedly discussing a large sum of money when police arrived at the scene.

Police investigation led to the discovery of almost five pounds of bundled marijuana and $7,000.

Shultz and Hirshey were both charged with distribution of a controlled substance.
