ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – PNM workers are trying to help save some baby coopers hawks, who lost their home.

The bird’s nest was blown out of a tree in Rio Rancho during last Sunday’s wind storm as a PNM lineman worked nearby.

Unfortunately only two of the five birds inside survived.

Wednesday PNM workers and members of the group Hawks Aloft returned to the area and helped install a new man made nest in a big cottonwood and re-nested the chicks.

Crews say as they were working, the father returned to watch over the nestlings.
