NM man caught stealing from campsites in Utah

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The forest service in Utah has caught up with a New Mexico man accused of burglarizing campsites.

Richard Peters, 51, of Albuquerque was arrested last Friday after an officer noticed stolen property in Peter’s van in the Ashley National Forest.

Once in custody authorities were able to link peter’s van to multiple incidents in the area.

They say Peters would rummage through camper trailers while the people were away.

It’s unclear how long Peters has been in Utah and if he’s linked to any thefts here in New Mexico.
