First resident moves in to Anasazi condos

Albuquerque Anasazi condos

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – What was once an eyesore in downtown Albuquerque, finally has its first resident.

Construction on the nine-story Anasazi condos at Sixth and Central began in 2008 but then suddenly stopped.

It then sat vacant for more than four years.

The original developer, Vincent Garcia, is currently in a federal prison for stealing nearly a million dollars from bank loans intended for the project.

Early last year an Arizona real estate group bought the building and finished construction.

And after several months on the market, someone purchased a unit in May and is now living in the Anasazi.

Officials say five more units are now under contract and could close in the next 30 days. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
