UNM professor banned from City Hall allowed back

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The UNM professor arrested during last week’s sit-in at the mayor’s office, will now be allowed back into City Hall.

David Correia was one of 13 people arrested during the sit-in protest against APD.

He’s accused of shoving an officer in the chest.

During Correia’s arraignment to face a felony charge of battery on a police officer, the judge banned him from City Hall.

But Wednesday a judge issued a new order allowing Correia to attend City Council meetings and City Hall for “legitimate business,” but he still has to stay away from the mayor’s office.

Correia has pleaded not guilty.
