Santa Fe man sentenced for 2012 murders

SANTA FE (KRQE) – A judge sentenced a Santa Fe man to more than 27 years in prison for killing two men at a Christmas party back in 2012.

Prosecutors say Joe Rivera, who had just turned 18, shot 23-year-old Johnny Griego and 29-year-old Nicholas Baker at Griego’s home in a fight over a bottle of liquor.

Rivera says he was defending his 16 year-old brother.
