Reno paper claims Nevada, Texas in lead for Tesla

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It is not looking for New Mexico.

The Reno Gazette-Journal is reporting that a site-consultant says Nevada and Texas are the front-runners for Tesla’s $5 billion Gigafactory.

It’s also reporting that a Reno developer claims to have been working with Tesla for months.

The company has been looking at locations for the factory that will build lithium batteries for its electric cars and could employ up to 6,500 people.

Tesla has said it will break ground at two or three sites in the next month and build the Gigafactory on one.

But where that will be won’t be announced until the end of the year.
