SANTA FE (KRQE) – Criminal charges against a Santa Fe taxi driver who was tackled by a police officer have been dismissed.
In March, former officer Jose Gutierrez pulled Dawn Bourgeois over for stopping in a box marked with an x, right before the railroad tracks.
Video from Gutierrez’s dashboard cam shows Bourgeois get out of her car after Gutierrez told her to stay inside, and then him tackling her to the ground.
Bourgeois got a black eye and a sprained wrist.
She was charged with resisting an officer, stopping or parking in a prohibited area and not having proof of registration of insurance.
Gutierrez later resigned.
Police say it’s not a crime to get out of the car during a traffic stop.
Bourgeois’ attorney says they’re filing a civil suit.
