Santa Fe County implements fireworks ban

SANTA FE (KRQE) – Due to severe drought conditions Santa Fe County is imposing a ban on the sale and use of certain fireworks in unincorporated portions of the county and county wild lands.

The ban applies to fireworks that are aerial such as rockets, spinners and stick-type rockets as well ground devices such as fire crackers. These fireworks are banned from use or sale in Santa Fe County.

All fireworks are banned in wild land areas.

Santa Fe County officials say the ban will be in effect for 30 days but could be extended if conditions continue. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
