New fire sparks on NM reservation

MESCALERO, N.M. (KRQE) – Crews are working to contain a wildfire reported on the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation on Tuesday.

Two structures were threatened by the Peña Fire, but no damage was reported and no evacuations are in place.

Officials say the fire is human caused, but no more details have been released.

A 10-person crew is currently working to construct handline around the fire, which is currently burning about a third of an acre.
