GRANTS, N.M. (KRQE) – A New Mexico contractor got an award for helping others in his community.
And he says doing good deeds as a contractor runs in the family.
The Grants contractor, Danny Rael, got the New Mexico National Homeownership Award Tuesday.
He’s been awarded for his work to help remodel homes for special needs and elderly clients.
Most of his work requires making the rural homes ADA accessible.
A home that was repaired Tuesday has been occupied by a man for about 50 years.
The USDA Rural Development director says Rael leads by example showing people that it’s important to support your community.
Most of the money to pay for the remodeling comes from USDA Rural Development loans and grants.
