Downtown ABQ tavern closes its doors

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Tuesday’s last call at Maloney’s Tavern will be its final one.

The bar on 4th and Central in the heart of downtown is closing after nearly a decade.

The Albuquerque Business First reports, Maloney’s has four other restaurants in other states.

Owners haven’t said why they’re closing.

It comes just as the Fourth Street Mall makeover project is about to start.

The city plans on opening the pedestrian mall to traffic by the end of the summer.
