ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque Police are investigating an overnight hit and run accident involving several pedestrians at First and Iron in Southwest Albuquerque.

Albuquerque firefighters contained an apartment fire to one unit overnight. The fire broke out just before midnight in the 13,000 block of Fruit northeast near Lomas.

We should learn more today about what a possible tornado did to homes east of Carrizozo yesterday. The storm leveled two homes and damaged at least five others. The National Weather Service has yet to confirm the damage resulted from a tornado.

State Police are investigating the latest deadly police shooting in New Mexico. Responding to a suspicious person call, two Espanola police encountered 16 year old Victor Vialpando who they say was armed and pointed a weapon at the officers. One officer shot Vialpando who died later at the hospital.

Forewarned if forearmed if you’re heading through the I-25 Paseo Del Norte job this week, be prepared for delays. All this week from 9am until 3pm, the left lane will be closed on I-25 Northbound. Through Wednesday, eastbound Ellison has the right land closed at the Southbound Frontage Road.

After the last couple of Albuquerque City Council meetings did not happen because of protests against Albuquerque Police, tonight the council is holding a special meeting. It starts at 5pm, and there is no “general public” comment scheduled, however you can speak about specific items that are on the agenda if you sign up before the meeting begins.
