Lobos head coach Ray Birmingham has always been known for producing collegiate baseball players that are capable of taking their talents to the next level. On Saturday, three Lobos are taken in the late rounds of the MLB draft.

The first to be drafter was outfielder Chase Harris. Harris is picked in the 14th round by the Philadelphia Phillies.

“Chase Harris, you are going to get a guy with great tools. A plus arm, a plus defender everyday, can play defense everyday. A plus base runner which you can do everyday, and a kid who has a chance to hit like Shane Victorino.” said Lobos head coach Ray Birmingham.

Former Rio Rancho pitcher Josh Walker is selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 22nd round, meanwhile junior-catcher Alex Real is drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 24th round.
