UFC Fight Night a hit in the Duke City

Just under 9,000 fans poured into cheer on Albuquerque’s Diego Sanchez & John Dodson in UFC Fight Night at Tingley Coliseum on Saturday night.

John “the magician” Dodson didn’t let down the home town crowd with a TKO win versus John Moraga. Although Dodson was victorious, he says he felt a little bad about the fight not going the distance for the duke city fans.

“In my own eyes I feel like I robbed the fans, and robbed everybody here in New Mexico, but they were so appreciative of me being a local guy, just being from here…it’s just, it’s exciting because I got to re-write history here..me and Diego wrote history”. said Dodson.

As for Diego Sanchez, plenty of eye brows were raised on the split decision victory for “the Nightmare.” Fans and critics took to social media voicing their opinions that his opponent, Ross Pearson won. One judge had Pearson winning 30-27, however the other two judges had Sanchez winning 29-28, 30-27.

“Yeah it’s my home town, and the judges came and did their job. Some reporters they can say this, they can say that..I am the original guy, I have dealt with this all my career. I have had people say he lost this fight, oh he didn’t win this fight. you know what, I won the fight tonight, my hand was raised, and I am happy.” said Sanchez.
