Murder warrant issued in beating death

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Police are looking for a third suspect in the beating death of an Albuquerque man.

They have issued a murder warrant for 24-year-old Phillip Martin.

Police said he was involved in beating 65-year-old Richard Zarate in his southwest Albuquerque home last month and then robbing him.

Zarate died last week from his injuries.

Marcus Hamilton, 20, was jailed in connection to the murder, as well as Samantha Ross, who was caught on surveillance video using Zarate’s credit card.

According to the criminal complaint, Hamilton knew Zarate and accused him of doing something bad to his friends. However, a motive is still unknown.
