Malicious intent possible in fatal crash

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – One person was killed and three others were injured after an SUV ran into them and took off. And police say it doesn’t look like an accident.

It happened around 3 o’clock Monday morning near Second Street and Iron, just south of downtown.

Police say it appears the group was targeted.

The area has a large homeless population.

A witness says saw an SUV ram up against a fence as people jumped out of the way.

“He came here for people laying down on the curb for what reason I don’t know but that’s what he came for. He was not drunk and swerves, no. He was looking for targets on the ground, bodies lying down,” Lee Galvez

Galvez said the person who died was a woman. Police say three others hurt are expected to recover.

Police would not say if they are homeless.

They are looking for a faded black SUV with front end damage. The license plate is GJ or GZ with an unknown 3rd letter, with the numbers 278.

Witnesses say there were two men inside.

If you have any information, call police.
