Bean bags used to stop suspected car thief

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque police used beanbags to stop a suspected car thief who wouldn’t back down Sunday night.

Officers say they pulled over 33-year-old Andrea Sandoval around 9:30 p.m. near Bridge and Goff in the south valley.

When they tried to arrest her for driving the stolen car, police say she became extremely combative and took off running.

Officers say it took two rounds from a beanbag gun to get her into custody.

She’s in jail, charged with receiving or transferring a stolen car and evading police. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
