Roswell police: teen kidnapped, raped

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – Roswell police are investigating a reported kidnapping and rape of a teenage girl.

Detectives say a 15-year-old girl was walking at the corner of Southeast Main Street and Buena Vista around 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.

They say that’s when a man in a gray van drove to her.

“He did say something that made her get close enough to the van in order for him to get ahold of her and get her in his van,” said Roswell Police Liaison Sabrina Morales.

Police say the teen told them he grabbed her and forced her into the van then sexually assaulted her.

Detectives are investigating the incident as a completely random attack.

Roswell police are warning parents to talk to their kids about strangers in vehicles that approach them.

Residents say they’re terrified to hear an attacker could be on the loose.

“It’s just not safe anywhere we are anymore,” said Jackie Fieroo.

KRQE called the Roswell Police spokesperson this afternoon to ask for a description of the attacker to warn people who to watch out for.

The spokesperson told News 13 she does not know whether the victim has given authorities a description.

In May, a Roswell woman in her mid-20’s was kidnapped and raped in the same area of town.

Police arrested two men in connection with that crime. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
